Sister Justin Atem Ayuk became born-again in 2010 and graduated that same year from the University of Buea with a Bachelors in Banking & Finance. She got married and was selected for further processing of the immigrant visa in 2012 while pregnant with her first baby. She delivered her baby on April 9, 2013, through a Cesarean Section. After that, she became sick and gradually, her lower extremities became paralyzed.
She moved to the USA two days before her visa expired, thanks to the help of a friend who visited home. He took her to Parkland Hospital where a mass was found in her spine. She later had a surgery and the mass was removed. The doctors said she will never walk again. She tried applying for government assistance like Medicare, social security disability and snap food, but was turned down saying she has not worked in the United States to be eligible for those. Her fifth year in the USA will be 2019 and she will qualify for Medicaid. Her husband and mother later came from Cameroon to assist her. In 2015, she had another surgery on her neck because her right hand was getting numb and weak. She later became pregnant and delivered her second child in May 2016. Presently, she is taking Accounting classes in a Community College that will enable her to get a job, like tax filing, an office assistant, a clerk, or an accounting technician. She was unable to do therapy because of financial difficulties until her case was reported to TACC-Friends and $1973 was raised both from the Charity Fund and individual contributions during the 2017 convention which she was invited to attend. TACNAM churches and some individuals also promised to continue assisting her.
