Samuel Sama Achuh

Dec 31, 2016

Elder Samuel Sama Achuh, a devout and committed Christian lives in Mesaw-Pinyin village. He became born-again 21 years ago and has served as an elder in the Apostolic Church Pinyin I District for the past 18 years. He is the only surviving member of a family of nine. He is married with eight children of his own in addition to other children left under his care by his deceased brothers. He used to work as a farmer but stopped working due to ill Health. Unfortunately, his wife who used to work very hard as a farmer as well can no longer do so due complications from a major surgical procedure in 2013.

Elder Sama was sick for about a year earlier, prior to being diagnosed with Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy two years ago. He was immediately placed on drugs. In January 2016, he was re-examined and the result showed that the condition was getting worse. He was scheduled for a surgery, which according to the doctor was the last resort to improve his quality of life. This was estimated to cost about five hundred thousand francs (500 000FCFA, $909). This amount included the procedure as well as the preoperative and postoperative treatments. In spite of the dire health needs, the family was unable to afford this cost of the recommended procedure. While another beneficiary was giving her testimony in church of what TACC-Friends had done for her, Elder Sama’s daughter contacted the Liaison Officer Sis Sylvie Nteping regarding his case.

The entire process cost 460 000 FCFA ($836) and was completely covered by TACC-Friends. Elder Sama has been discharged from the hospital and is doing fine. Below is a YouTube link of the money being handed to Elder Sama.  Video 1
