Our History

The History of TACC-Friends International started with the founder, Bro Julius Ngwendson’s exposure to communication technology with alumni from his Alma Mata, the University of Buea, Cameroon. After traveling to the United States, in 2002, Bro. Ngwendson became a member of a yahoo group that enabled alumni of the University of Buea to stay connected. In 2003, he thought the same tool of communication would be helpful to connect with former members of The Apostolic Church Cameroon (TACC), his former denomination. In June of 2003, Bro. Ngwendson created TACC-Friends yahoo group and proceeded to subscribe contacts in his mailing list. The name TACC-Friends was suggested by Bro. Evans Akamdawo as an inclusion to persons who love the vision but have never been TACC members. At the level of TACC-Friends yahoo group, we sponsored youth crusades and offered some financial assistance to activities involving the youth in TACC assemblies. It is worth mentioning that Bro. Ngwendson also founded many other yahoogroups including Fullgospelfriends in September 2006, FakoChristians in 2011, Mincambels (Minnesota Cameroonian Believers) in 2012, among others.

Upon subscribing to Skype in 2007, Bro. Ngwendson found an opportunity to host Conference Calls with TACC-Friends members in the USA and Europe. In 2008, the Conference Calls became a reality with regular participants such as Brothers Evans Akamdawo, John Egyawan, John Sama, Luwani Ndukum, Mathew Eyong, Sebastien Kema (in China) and Anthony Ekwale. A number of other brethren participated sporadically in the conference calls.

The birth of the TACC-Friends International Association was conceived in the summer of 2008, and the original constitution and by-laws were written by Brothers John Egyawan and John Sama. In November of 2008, TACC-Friends had its first official conference call with the National Council of TACC which granted TACC-Friends an official recognition by the church, and a permanent seat at the TACC National Council.

In 2010, Bro. Ngwendson increased the group to eight (Brothers Luwani Ndukum, Evans Akamdawo, John Sama, John Egyawan, Mathew Eyong, Anthony Ekwale, Emmanuel Nuesiri and Julius Ngwendson) all of whom eventually became the EXCO of the association.

On August 25th, 2011, TACC-Friends International held the first General Conference call which opened membership beyond the regular eight participants leading to the official launching of the General Assembly.

The three objectives which include networking for fellowship, helping the very needy brethren in the church in Cameroon and helping TACC where necessary, were formed prior to the launching in August of 2011.

Following the aforementioned objectives, this association seeks to assist former TACC members who travel abroad in whatever way possible being aware of the sudden changes in culture and spirituality. Also, we focus most of our resources in taking care of very needy brethren in the church in Cameroon; and we’re grateful that the Lord has used us to change the lives of individuals and families as a result. May His name be praised.
