When a Category 5 hurricane dubbed Matthew hit the Southeastern United States and island nations including Haiti the first week of October, many lives were lost and affected. At the time, they were reporting close to 300 people dead in Haiti, over 3000 children displaced and who had no roof to hide. From BBC reports. Please see pictures below. The Lord laid a burden on Sister Gloria Ngwendson’s heart to encourage brethren to donate to Hurricane relief. We launched a fundraiser and people responded tremendously. $777.7 was raised, part of it from the Charity Fund. On November 3, 2016, this amount was donated to a Christian organization with resources in Haiti called Compassion International. Their mission is to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name with this scripture as their guiding principle “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.”- Proverbs 19:17.
